I’ve always felt way more connected to oracle cards and found them easier to read. I know a lot of people feel the opposite — they prefer tarot’s structure — and some even think oracle decks are a bit kitschy or overly positive (which some decks definitely can be). But I’ve spent a lot of time curating some really unique, balanced oracle decks, and honestly, I can do a full reading with them and get just as much depth and accuracy as I do with tarot — sometimes even more.
I read professionally, so I’m doing readings every week for clients, but for myself, I only read when it feels right. I’ll go through a month or two without touching my cards, then have a couple weeks where I’m reading daily. And it’s not always about big life events or problems — sometimes I just feel like playing around with the cards or practicing my skills.
I’m very comfortable with my decks now, but to be honest, tarot didn’t come naturally to me at first (and still doesn’t feel as intuitive as oracle cards). Sometimes I do full oracle readings when that feels right, but most of the time I’ll pull a few tarot cards as a base. My tarot deck is a treasured gift from a friend and has always been accurate for me, so I really wanted to push myself to learn the system, even if it took a lot of effort.
I’ve also wondered if I might click more with other systems, like Lenormand or Kipper. I haven’t tried them yet, but maybe someday!
