Multiple 6s in a relationship reading — and does the Tower count as a 6?

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a tarot experience from a few months ago and get some thoughts on it.

For a bit of context: earlier this year I was in a complicated situation with a man who’s also one of my best friends. We both thought we wanted something more, but things got messy and I ended up really hurt by how he handled some personal issues. Around that same time I had just started learning tarot, so I was very new to reading.

As you can probably guess, I pulled quite a few cards about this situation because it was on my mind constantly. I know people usually advise against asking the same question over and over, but since I was new (and honestly pretty desperate), I kept asking slightly different questions like:

“Can our friendship survive this?”
“What happens if I keep him in my life instead of cutting him off?”

I limited myself to one question and one card per day. I didn’t keep a journal back then, but I clearly remember the sequence of cards I kept getting:

Six of Wands
Six of Cups
Six of Pentacles

I never pulled the Six of Swords, which is interesting since that one often relates to moving on. At the time I knew these cards were generally positive, which surprised me because I was pretty upset with him.

When I looked into it later, I saw that some readers interpret multiple 6s in relationship readings as a possible soulmate-type connection. That caught my attention since the situation was very emotional for me.

Eventually I asked the question I’d been avoiding:
“Is there a real possibility for us to have a healthy relationship?”
And I pulled The Lovers — which is also associated with the number 6.

Fast forward to now: after a lot of conversations, we’ve actually worked things out and recently started seeing each other. When that happened, I pulled a card asking what to expect in the near future between us, and I got The Tower.

At first that felt alarming, but it also made sense since he’s currently going through some major upheavals in his personal life. Still, it made me wonder about the numerology side of things. I’ve seen some lists where the Tower (16) is mentioned alongside 6-related symbolism, but numerologically 16 → 1+6 = 7, so it would normally reduce to 7.

So I’m curious what others think:

Do you see repeated 6s in relationship readings as meaningful or connected to themes like love/soulmate energy?
And would you ever consider The Tower (16) part of a “6 pattern,” or do you strictly reduce it to 7 in numerology?

From a numerology perspective, 6s are usually associated with balance, acceptance, and integration.

Also, a lot of people automatically interpret The Lovers as a soulmate card, but that’s a bit of a common misconception. On its own it doesn’t necessarily mean “soulmate.” Usually readers look for other supportive cards in the spread, like the Two of Cups, Four of Wands, or Ten of Cups, before leaning toward that kind of interpretation.

If you look closely at the imagery in the Rider–Waite–Smith version of the Lovers, it actually mirrors the Devil card in an interesting way. There’s a masculine and feminine dynamic, but the directions of the figures matter: the woman looks toward the angel/spiritual guidance, the man looks toward the woman, and the angel looks down toward them. It forms a kind of symbolic loop — which ties back to themes of balance, integration, and awareness.

As for the numerology part, you’re right that The Tower (16) normally reduces to 7 (1+6=7), so it wouldn’t typically be counted as a 6. The other Major Arcana card connected to the number 6 through reduction would be The Devil (15 → 1+5=6).

The Tower itself usually points to something intense or life-changing — a shake-up that breaks down an unstable structure. It can feel dramatic, but it’s also part of a larger process. After the Tower in the Major Arcana comes The Star, which represents healing, hope, and renewal. The idea is that when something collapses, it can clear space for something better to emerge.

And one more thing to keep in mind: even if there is a strong soul connection with someone, that doesn’t necessarily mean the relationship is healthy or meant to last. Sometimes it just means your paths cross in meaningful ways — possibly more than once — and there are lessons involved for both people.

I’d say 6s are really about harmony, giving and receiving, and finding balance. The Lovers doesn’t automatically mean soulmate — it’s more about choices and alignment, especially when read alongside other cards.

The Tower, as a 7, is more about sudden change or upheaval. It’s intense, but it often clears the way for growth and something better — like the Star after it. And just because there’s a soul connection doesn’t mean it’s automatically “perfect” or easy; it just means there’s a deeper lesson or energy between you.
