How do you interpret the card at the bottom of the deck?

I've noticed that a lot of tarot readers, especially on YouTube, will check the card at the bottom of the deck after a reading. I've never really understood what it's meant to represent.

Do you see it as the overall energy of the reading, a hidden influence, an extra message, or something else entirely?

I'm curious how other people use the bottom card, or if you don't use it at all.

I think it really comes down to your intention. If you've decided before the reading that the bottom card represents something specific, then it's worth paying attention to because it's part of your reading method.

If you didn't assign any meaning to it beforehand, though, I don't think it automatically means anything. It's just another card in the deck unless you've intentionally given it a role.

I usually treat the bottom card as a "What am I missing?" card. Sometimes it points to something that's happening behind the scenes, and other times it offers clarification if the main spread feels unclear.

I don't always look at it, but when I do, I find it can add an extra layer of insight to the reading.

For me, the bottom card represents what's hidden. It often points to something the querent isn't aware of yet, is overlooking, or maybe doesn't want to acknowledge.

I don't see it as the main message of the reading, but more as an underlying influence that can add helpful context to the spread.

I only recently started paying attention to the bottom card with my main deck, the Wild Unknown, and it's been surprisingly accurate for me. Most of the time it seems to set the overall energy or tone before I even lay out the spread.

Sometimes it ends up describing a specific person's reading so well that when the card actually shows up in the spread later, I'm always caught off guard. It's become a fun little part of my reading process.
