Hey everyone,

I was wondering if you could share your personal interpretations of the Five of Wands. I’ve pulled it three days in a row for my daily morning card, and I feel like I must be missing something if my deck keeps throwing it in my face!

What does the Five of Wands mean to you?

Hi everyone!
A struggle of some kind, or conflict and rivalry, is what the Five of Wands typically symbolizes, though its implications are not always clear. If your deck pulls three days in a row, it may be attempting to draw attention to a significant aspect of its design.
Possibly helpful are the following personal interpretations:

  • Tension or Conflict. This card frequently represents conflict or an internal or external battle. Are you currently dealing with a conflicting interest or a circumstance where there is a lot of friction?
  • A friendly competition or a challenge that forces you to advance is sometimes suggested by the Five of Wands. Are you being pushed to the edge of your comfort zone or are you being tested in this situation?
  • Inward Conflict. Additionally, it could represent an interior conflict between disparate aspects of yourself. Do opposing ambitions, objectives, or points of view make you feel divided?
You're probably being asked to pay attention to these regions because you've drawn this card more than once. Consider where in your life these energy may be present and what steps you might take to deal with them.
I hope that this is helpful! 🌼

For me, the 5s in tarot usually have this vibe of growing pains—whether it's a struggle, a clash of egos, or a setback. With the Five of Wands, I always think about the fiery energy of the suit and how 5 is right in the middle from Ace to 10. This isn’t the final showdown; it’s more about everyday conflicts like coworkers butting heads or clashing egos.
These growing pains are necessary for the balance that comes in the 6s. You’ll probably know what it relates to in your life based on what’s going on. Hope this helps and adds something useful to the conversation! 🤞🏼

July 22–August 1, Saturn in Leo, Geburah: 5 of Wands.
Without some context, the picture of five young males playfighting might not make much sense. It isn't the most friendly illustration by Pamela Coleman Smith. Despite his penchant for devouring his own offspring, Saturn—also known as Chronus, meaning "father time"—was seen as a stern and mighty king of the Golden Age. In contrast, Leo is a sign of kindness and generosity, and it is often linked to children. Animated by the fire element, this card exudes a carefree vibe.
Waite and his contemporaries understood Geburah to represent an uphill battle with no clear victor. This idea is aptly illustrated by the picture of kids playing combat. Accordingly, the Five of Wands stands for life's challenges and rivalries, particularly the chase after wealth. Whatever works for you, that's how you should use it.

  • The upright position of the Five of Wands, which is associated with Saturn's golden age, Leo's generosity, and the difficulties of life, typically portends success. It's a hopeful card that says the difficulties you're going through will really help you grow and succeed.
  • The reversed position. As if the once-jovial game has devolved into a full-blown brawl, the card's reversed image represents conflict. This could perhaps indicate contentious disputes or legal struggles.

Depending on the circumstances, the Five of Wands might represent healthy competition and personal conflicts, or they can represent opportunities for growth and harmony.
