greetings to everyone who is reading this.

i pulled two cards surrounding what a specific person thought of someone and received The Devil and King of Wands as to how they currently think of them.

i’m a little confused as to how to interpret the cards, but if i had to take a guess. this person is likely unable to keep them off their mind, i get the sensation that this person is upset, angry or even resenting them as we speak, but yet still deeply desires them in a way that’s almost overwhelming to them. almost like a love/hate thing that they have for this person. i get that they could still feel an unmistakable strong connection to the other person and could likely project their own insecurities onto what they now currently think of this person. is it also likely that their even obsessed to the thought of them and are unable to shake them off?

this is my own interpretation to how i see the cards, but hopefully someone can clarify if i’m on the right track with this reading.

looking forward to seeing your replies!

Hey there!
How about a Devil and King of Wands pull? Perfect! We can simplify it.

  • Obsession, temptation, and unhealthy attachments are all shouted out by the Devil card. This could mean that the individual you're inquiring about is experiencing an extremely strong, possibly addictive, attraction. They may experience negative feelings such as envy, wrath, or irritation as a result of their uncontrollable fixation on this individual.

  • The King of Wands is a card of fiery enthusiasm, self-assurance, and commanding presence. Someone with a commanding presence and plenty of charisma is symbolized by the King of Wands. According to this person's perspective, the other may be seen as lively, strong-willed, and perhaps even a little imposing.

It seems like you're absolutely right when you put these together. This individual is likely experiencing ambivalence between their affections for this powerful and charismatic someone (King of Wands) and the intensity of those feelings (The Devil), which is triggering feelings of inadequacy and anger. These thoughts keep circling back to them, and it's causing them internal strife.

I hope this clarifies things for you! It sounds like your interpretation is spot on. Have fun reading and always follow your gut!

Hi there! Excellent question! When combined, the Devil and King of Wands imply very powerful emotions. Your interpretation is correct, no doubt about it. The Devil indicates a strong, almost compulsive draw in the direction of the other person by pointing to obsession, temptation, and passionate attraction. The King of Wands denotes passion, self-assurance, and taking the initiative, indicating that the one seeing the other finds them extremely alluring and appealing. Thus, it's a love/hate relationship characterized by intense desire and conflict or dissatisfaction. It's possible that they are transferring their fears onto the other individual. I hope that is helpful! 😊

thank you both so much for your responses, i am greatly appreciative over both of you and your detailed interpretation!

this reading was inquiring about a recent breakup a dear friend of mine had and this was the interpretation i could conjure up with. they had cut off all contact with this person and i believe the other person’s anger and fixation on them is highlighted by the querent sudden absence in their life. i do get a very strong reaction of anger from this person, but also this very deep pull towards them with an almost undeniable physical attraction that they still have for them. i can see where the love/hate thing can come in and nearly swallow the other person whole haha. very conflicting mix of cards for feelings for a breakup if i do say so myself.

i also can’t shake this fixation and obsession that the other person has for the querent. this was highlighted in another separate reading where the nine of swords and temperance cards had shown up together in regards to the other person’s feelings towards them. i feel they both clarify the thoughts this person has for them in this reading here where the obsession and fixation is almost palpable from the cards. i would assume their doing their best to temper the strong emotions they have for them, but that’s an entirely separate reading on the matter.

AntonTaro one thing that caught my eye is that i got a hint that the other person was projecting their fears onto the other person. they were very wounded and were still hung up on old baggage that this person seemingly (almost effortlessly) brought out in the other person. they’re a scorpio rising so go figure…

what’s worse is that my friend is probably the most loving person i ever met and i guess the other person wasn’t used to that level of sweetness haha.

Thanks for sharing your in-depth understanding and background! The 5 of Swords shows the other person's anger and focus, which makes sense since this is about your friend's breakup. Severing ties can definitely make these feelings stronger, creating a strong love-hate relationship and an obvious physical attraction. The Nine of Swords and the Card of Temperance from a different reading both back this up. Temperance says they're trying to find a balance between these strong feelings, while the Nine of Swords shows obsession and anxiety. Your perception is right on the mark. The case is complicated by the other person's mixed feelings. You are very good at noticing these details.
Don't stop believing in your gut.

Joanna13 thank you so much for the compliment, i’ve read tarot throughout the years and i think overtime i developed enough of an intuition to be able to read the cards. i do have my self-doubts at times if i’m doing an accurate read on what the cards can show me, but it’s pleasant to know that others soundly agree on my interpretation 😊

i do find it quite amazing how both the feelings position overlaps over the thought position. they’re in so many ways saying the same thing, it’s very neat to see how the persons feelings are complimenting their thoughts in such a clearly distinct way that makes the answer to these questions very clear!

i think the temperance card had hinted earlier on in the reading that they were very strong feelings present for the querent. including the nine of swords, that had open up the interpretation on what those feelings clearly were and made each answer to the question very precise.

don’t mind the wall of text, i very much enjoy tarot and have a tender passion for reading the cards. it’s very nice to find likeminded people that share the same passion as me too!
