Hey! I’ve been wanting to ask my deck a yes or no question, but I’m not really sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? 🙂

Hey there!
The secret to a successful yes/no tarot reading is simplicity. The answer might be in a single card, but the impression it leaves is more important. The Four of Cups, for instance, would suggest a "no" or "not at the moment." None of those things scream "yes" like that card's common suggestions of indifference, lost opportunities, or the need to reconsider.
Focus on your question as you shuffle the cards, and then draw one when you're ready. As a whole, the energy is important; being upright might indicate "yes," while being reversed might indicate "no." Like Cups, which is associated with feelings and intuition, the suit and number also play a significant role.
That should be helpful! 😊

Here’s a method I use that I picked up from a book. When you have a yes or no question, shuffle the deck and pull three cards while focusing on your question. Once you turn them over, use the list below to determine if they’re Yes, No, or Neutral. If you get three Yes cards, the answer is a definite yes. Two Yes cards (with one No or Neutral) mean a positive outcome is likely, but it may take time. If you get all No or a mix of No/Neutral cards, the answer is no.

If you read reversals, reversed cards automatically mean No. If not, just turn them upright and check the list to see if your answer is Yes or No.

YES Cards:
Most cards are Yes unless listed as No, Neutral, or an Exception.

NO Cards:

  • Swords: Three, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten, Knight.
  • Cups: Five, Seven, Eight.
  • Pentacles: Five.
  • Major Arcana: Death, The Devil, The Tower, The Moon.

NEUTRAL Cards:

  • Swords: Four.
  • Cups: Four.
  • Major Arcana: The Hermit, The Hanged Man.

EXCEPTIONS:

  • Two of Swords or Ten of Wands: The answer isn’t known yet.
  • Five and Seven of Wands: Yes, but you’ll need to fight for it.

Hope this helps!

I’ve got two methods I like to use:

  1. Draw one card and interpret the meaning. If the picture doesn’t give you a clear answer, here’s a general guide:
  • Cups: Yes
  • Pentacles: Yes, but it’ll take some effort
  • Wands: Maybe not, but possible if you put in the work
  • Major Arcana: It’s out of your hands
  • Swords: No
  1. Shuffle and make 4 piles. Draw either 13 cards or until you hit an Ace. When you're done, count how many Aces you pulled:
  • 4 Aces: Yes
  • 3 Aces: Probably yes
  • 2 Aces: It’s going to be tough
  • 1 or 0 Aces: No

The final card in any pile without an Ace can give extra insight into the situation. This method works wonders for me every time 🙂

Hey! I like to keep things easy when I do yes or no tarot spreads. Mix up the cards while you think about your question, and then take out one card. It's more likely to be a "no" if it's upside down than if it's upright. But to be honest, the energy of the card is also important. A "yes" could mean something complicated, or a "no" could mean you need to give something more thought.
I also pull three cards as a plan. If most of them are straight, then "yes." If more are turned around, it's probably a "no." Two straight cards could mean that it's mostly yes but not quite there.
When reading the cards, it's most important to go with your gut—your gut often tells you more than a simple yes or no! ❧
