So I’ve recently fallen headfirst into the tarot rabbit hole (loving it so far), and I’m using a deck based on the Rider-Waite-Smith system.

Anyway, I’m a bit stumped about the Wheel of Fortune card. I’ve read a bunch of stuff, and it seems kind of contradictory. Some sources say it’s all about accepting that life moves in cycles and a lot of it is out of our hands – like, roll with it, don’t fight it. Others say it’s more about seizing the moment, taking a chance when the timing feels right, or not letting the opportunity pass you by.

I get that meanings can vary depending on the context and the reader, but I’d love to hear how you personally read this card. When it shows up in a spread, what does it mean to you? Any metaphors or vibes that help you make sense of it?

Hey! Great question — this was one of the cards that confused me a lot too when I was starting out.

For me, the Wheel of Fortune is kind of like... life’s cosmic roulette wheel. Sometimes you land on a win, sometimes not so much, but the wheel always spins again. It reminds me that nothing stays the same forever — good OR bad — and that gives me a weird kind of comfort. Like, even if things suck right now, it won’t last forever. And if things are great, enjoy it while it lasts.

As for action vs. passivity, I see it more as a card about timing. If you're getting nudges to act and the Wheel shows up, it might be saying “yeah, now’s the time.” But if you're forcing something that’s not flowing, it could be a sign to step back and wait for the wheel to turn in your favor.
