For me, the 8 of Cups can mean a few different things — I don’t think any single card ever has just one fixed meaning.
Sometimes, it shows someone moving on, not really because they want to, but because they have to. Maybe there’s something blocking the relationship, or the other person just isn’t interested. But the feelings are still there underneath it all.
Other times, it means someone has actually outgrown the relationship. They’ve found the emotional courage to leave behind everything they built with that person and move on to something new.
But honestly, quite often I see this card as a symbol of emotional strength or courage — not just about relationships or breakups. Like, it takes serious emotional strength to get out of bed every day when you’re struggling with depression. Or to show up for yourself when no one else can. To speak up for what you believe in. To hold onto faith that things will work out, even when everything feels like it’s falling apart. That’s the kind of emotional power the 8 of Cups can represent too.
