Hey everyone,
I'm super new to Tarot — just got my deck not long ago and picked up a book to help me learn. This morning I decided to do a little practice exercise: shuffle the cards while focusing on one of my best friends, then pull a single card to see if it kind of "matches" her personality.
I pulled the Two of Cups reversed. When I checked my book (Tarot Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis), the description totally threw me off. It talks about ex-partners, trust issues, taking without giving… basically the exact opposite of who she is. I’ve known her for 20+ years and she’s nothing like that. Upright, the card makes more sense — partnerships, friendship, connection — but that feels more like "our friendship" rather than her as a person.
So now I'm confused. If I pulled this card in a real reading, I'd probably misinterpret it. Do you guys ever read the cards less literally? Like, is there a way to interpret them more loosely or symbolically? Or should I always stick with the book meanings?
