I’ve always looked at tarot cards like words in a language. Sure, there are the “dictionary definitions,” but just like real language, the meanings shift depending on the culture and the reader using them. That’s why one card can end up feeling very different for different people.

For me, since I mostly read tarot for introspection, the Swords usually come through as mental stuff — overthinking, hesitation, distractions, anxiety, changes in perspective, that sort of thing.
