Hey folks, curious what you all think about the Swords suit in Tarot.
For me, Swords have always been tied to challenges and problem-solving. If you look at them through Jung’s lens, they line up with “Thinking.” They’re man-made, conscious tools of the ego — sharp, double-edged, and able to cut both ways. I see them as representing the mind: focus, decisions, patterns, even the way we shape language to make sense of the world.
Here’s how I usually read the Swords in the minors:
Ace – readiness for potential trouble that hasn’t happened yet
2 – danger of something unexpected coming up
3 – trouble is definitely arriving
4 – a pause, shelter, or temporary break from the storm
5 – conflict, injury, being in the middle of the mess
6 – finding a way out, solutions, rescue
7 – avoiding problems, tact, maybe sneaky behavior
8 – feeling stuck, like every option carries trouble
9 – dread, anxiety, trouble looming in your mind
10 – aftermath; the worst has passed, now figuring out next steps
When I read reversals, I usually see them as a disruption — like the card’s energy is delayed, blocked, or being re-evaluated somehow.
That’s my take, but I’d love to hear how others interpret the Swords. Do you see them mainly as “trouble,” or do they carry something different for you?
