For me, I usually do what’s called a “cut-shuffle.” I avoid the bridge shuffle since it can warp or wear out the deck over time.
Basically, with a cut-shuffle, I take a chunk from the middle of the deck and then drop little portions alternately on the top and bottom.
When I’m reading for someone else, I have them focus on their question while I shuffle — kind of connecting with them through their energy. Then I usually let them shuffle the deck a little themselves before laying out the spread.
After the reading, I put the cards back into the deck one by one, alternating sides, so cards that were next to each other in the spread don’t end up together again.
Hope that’s helpful!
