I mostly read for myself, and I’ve found that skipping the usual spreads really helps. I just pull four cards — no positions or anything — and kind of read them together, trusting my intuition to figure out the message. Then I actually have a little "chat" with my deck by asking follow-up questions if I need more clarity.
One thing that changed my practice big time: before I finish the reading, I ask if there’s any other message I should get. Usually the answer is yes, so I pull four more cards. Weirdly enough, that second batch tends to be way more helpful, even if it’s not directly about my original question. It’s like getting advice for my life as a whole. Since I started doing this, my readings have gotten so much deeper.
Also, I swear by doing readings first thing in the morning. Like, right after waking up. Later in the day, my biases sneak in and mess with the reading. But early morning? Your brain’s still waking up and your intuition is super fresh and clear.
Oh, and here’s another tip: try doing daily "What’s my fortune today?" type readings without any heavy questions. Since you usually don’t have strong opinions about the day yet, your readings are less biased and it’s great practice for when you do want to ask specific stuff later.
Bonus — I also use tarot to connect with spirits, entities, or deities sometimes. That’s opened up some really interesting conversations too!
