Like someone else mentioned, it really helps to decide ahead of time how you’re interpreting cards for yes/no questions.
One resource I like is Liz Dean’s system — thought I’d share in case it’s useful to you:
If you use reversals, reversed cards usually mean no.
No cards: Swords 3,5,6,7,8,9,10, Knight of Swords + their reversals
Neutral cards: 4 of Swords, 4 of Cups, Hermit, Hanged Man
Exceptions: 2 of Swords and 10 of Wands mean the answer is not yet clear
Yes cards: Everything else
Just a heads up, this is a system I personally use while still learning, so take it with a grain of salt.
With that said, I’d lean towards interpreting the reversed Hierophant as a no here — partly because it came up reversed, and partly because it can mean being misled or manipulated. So maybe your brother wasn’t totally honest with you.
