Any tips for figuring out card combinations?

I'm pretty new to tarot and I'm getting the hang of single-card meanings. But once cards start showing up together I start second-guessing myself. I keep Googling combos, which kind of defeats the point of learning... ugh.

How did you learn to read combinations? Did you have a click moment? What helps you trust your intuition when you're doing spreads?

Super basic way I learned to read combos is just watching how the images interact.

Like, are the figures looking at each other or looking away? Is a card turned away from a solution, moving away from something dark, or stepping into something tricky?

I usually read left as past, right as future. Are the cards facing forward or stuck in the past?

Also notice if they’re in harmony or conflict, both standing firm or one kinda falling over.

For me the pictures are trying to tell a story, so just watch them and see what comes through.

Reading combos is tricky. I still struggle with it too. For me, treating the spread like a little story helped. Let the cards move — picture them as characters in a scene. Watch how they interact, how one pushes the next or holds it back.
