The Magician — what does someone actually want from you?

So I keep pulling The Magician when I ask what this guy (potential romantic interest) wants from me. We’ve been chatting for a few weeks but can’t meet yet because he’s traveling, and I don’t want to do a big multi-card deep dive when things are still this fresh.

Normally I like seeing The Magician for myself — it usually feels like "you’ve got the tools, go for it." But in love readings I’ve seen people say it can be about manipulation or someone wanting to "shape" the situation.

Is it possible he’s expecting too much from me? Like wanting some kind of "wow" factor or for me to be this super transformative energy in his life? Curious what your experience has been with The Magician in this position.

I’d flip the whole thing around — instead of stressing over what he wants, figure out what you want. The Magician is all about creating the version of life that works for you. No decent partner wants someone who just follows along trying to keep them happy. Most people want someone who can actually co-create a future with them, not just trail behind.
